Can women play?

Yes!  In Bath, all of our games are mixed, and we're actively looking for more women to play.

How old do I need to be?

For insurance reasons, you currently need to be at least 16 to play.  There is no upper age limit!

What if I'm rubbish or have no experience? Is coaching available?

Don't worry, just get involved!  For social nights, you can just come along: we play touch every week over the summer, where people either play a social game, or get coached, and it's all free!  Hopefully, you'll enjoy it so much that you'll want to play in the league.  If you'd like to speak to someone beforehand, email us.

Is touch the same as tag rugby?

Touch is similar in some ways to tag rugby: both games can be played as mixed-sex, low-contact, rugby-style games.

While the games do have technical differences, the big difference is that touch is played more: social touch the Rec has up to 50 people playing weekly.

Bath also has three successful, long-standing leagues with 20 teams and 300 players in summer.  The league caters for all skill levels from complete beginner teams to teams that take part in national competitions.

What do I need to bring with me?

Sports kit!  T-shirt, shorts, and either trainers or moulded boots. If you need to buy some stuff, look here.

Our social touch venue (The Rec) does not have any changing or showering facilities.

How much does it cost?

For social touch, nothing!  There is an entrance fee for playing in the league, though.

Where and when do we play?

For social touch timings and venues, see here.

I'm interested in entering my team into the league - what do I do?

Speak to Neil Davies, and he'll give you more information.

I'm interested in playing, but I don't have a team - is that a problem?

No: we play touch every week over the summer, where people either play a social game or get coached.

How do I get involved in the league?

Get in touch with us, and we'll find a way of getting you involved.

Will I get injured?

As with all sports, there is an element of physical activity.  However, touch is a non-contact sport, so the risk of injury is low provided you warm up well and are sensible.
